Update on Coronavirus re Keyworker Information

Dear Parents / Carers,
You will have heard the recent news that children are not to attend school for the foreseeable future so sadly today will be the last day for most pupils. There are a few exceptions:-
  1. Children who have an allocated social worker
2. Children who have an EHCP
3. Children who have parents who are front line key workers.
I have been waiting for a definitive list of what constitutes a front line key worker and in the early hours of this morning, it was published. The guidance is very clear to state that attendance at school is the very last option. The guidance on key workers can be found here:-
As a country, we all need to do what we can to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. That is why the government has given clear guidance on self-isolation, household isolation and social ...
The guidance from both government is that school should be the very last option for childcare so please make alternative arrangements where possible. Guidance from the authority states that 'Only families who have both parents identified as key workers will be able to attend school.  Therefore, if one parent is a key worker, the government will expect the other parent to provide care at home'.
If you think you fall into one of these categories and you have absolutely no other option for childcare, please e-mail the school office with the name of your child and your job title. If your child is eligible to attend school, we will make you an offer by the end of today. You will have to prove your employment via an i-d card or other evidence.  The provision will not be a formal school based education, it will be much more relaxed with opportunities to complete some of the activities that will be suggested to those who will not be attending school. You will also have the opportunity to decline the offer of a place at school, it is not compulsory.
All children not attending school will be able to access suggested activities to complete.  We will be suggesting these activities on the class pages on our school website. We will be updating these on Monday, giving us time to make sure that the activities offered are age appropriate and of a high quality. You have all received log in details for Education City, an online learning platform for your child. If you have not, please contact the school office.
Kind regards,
Miss D Vrlec
