We have had a good week in 2L this week. In literacy we wrote and edited some brilliant stories about a Meerkat visiting us at school and then focused on developing our comprehension skills in reading. In Maths we started work on fractions looking at halves, quarters and thirds of shapes and amounts. In our topic work we continued to look at Mexico and its culture. This week also included learning about the life and work of Frida Kahlo. The children drew self portraits of themselves and surrounded the pictures with flowers and animals that they liked.
In PE the class have really impressed the coaches with their gymnastics skills and the competitors in the gymnastics competition did really well!
I have set homework on purple mash and given spellings out which are: television, treasure, usual, division, vision, pleasure, measure, occasion, usually, leisure.
Thanks

We have had another great week in 2L this week. We continued with our topic on the rainforests by looking at the tribes that live in the Amazon. We thought about the similarities and differences between life in the Amazon and life in Stretford. In Maths we looked at temperature and thermometers and in Literacy we wrote postcards to Sunny the Meerkat inviting him to visit us!
As part of our work for British Science week we looked at how birds build their nests. We looked at different types of birds and their methods and then we went into the playground to collect twigs grass and leaves. In class we used clay and the items we had collected, as well as some shredded coloured paper to make our nests. We then left them to dry and placed some small eggs into the nest to see if they could survive windy conditions. Everyone's nest was successful and we talked about the important features of a nest that would keep eggs and then chicks safe and warm.
The girls in class headed to a girl's football event at stretford leisure centre on Friday and had a great time learning new skills and enjoying the games set up for them to take part in.
I have put homework on purple mash this week to be completed by Wednesdaty please. This week's spellings are: watch, wander, quantity, squash, quality, squabble, squad, quad, quarrel.
Have a great weekend,
Mr Logan

The week has flown by in 2L this week! For world book day this week we discussed and wrote about our favourite books and characters, used books to solve maths problems and designed and made our own mini books. In our other literacy work this week we continued to look at Meerkats, completing comprehensions and creating factfiles. In Maths we continued with our units of measure topic.
Next week is British Science week and we will be enjoying activities and hopefully some parent guest speakers! There is an event on at the Trafford Centre as part of Science week and I have posted the link below should you wish to go this weekend or during next week.
