Mrs C Longworth : Chair of Governors - Co-opted Governor

Appointed 26/05/2016 - 25/05/2020

My name is Claire Longworth and I have two sons Joel and Alex who attended VPIS and now go to VPJS. I work as a Primary School Teacher at a primary school in Altrincham, over my teaching career I have taught all year groups from Nursery to year 2. I currently teach Nursery so I feel I have a great background to be our Chair of Governors. I have been on the governing body for several years and this is the second year I have been the Chair of Governors. I thoroughly enjoy helping and supporting the school in every way I can. I am proud to be part of such a caring and supportive school.

Mrs S Quinton-Hulme : Vice Chair of Governors - Appointed 14/10/2017 - 13/10/2021

I am a co-opted governor with great community links within Stretford. I have been a governor at this school since 2013.

I work full time for Network Rail in project controls and I specialise in governance, compliance and audit. I am a part of many community groups within Stretford including: the Chair of Friends of Victoria Park, Vice Chair of Victoria Park Junior School FAF, am on the executive committee of 23rd Stretford St Matthews Victoria Scout Group, I was instrumental in reforming Stretford Children’s Theatre, I have been part of community funding panels, and have played an integral part in Friends of Stretford Public Hall. These links mean that I can integrate the school further into our community and share resources, ideas and celebrations.

I have a long family history with the school, as my grandfather, mother and myself attended this school as a child, and my son also attended more recently.

‘I love this school – it is a part of my life and our community and feels like family. I wanted to become a governor to help the school be the best that it can be for all the children – including my own!’

Mrs M Aslam - Appointed 17/05/2017 - 16/05/2021

I am a co-opted governor and I have 2 children who both attend Victoria Park Junior School.
I have worked in the public sector in a variety of roles throughout my career and I am currently working as a Workforce Planning and HR Performance Officer.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and socialising with friends.
I have been a governor at the school since November 2013. I am the Maths and Sports link for the governors and have so far found the role to be very rewarding. I strongly believe that children will enjoy learning in a nurturing and caring environment where respect, equality and courtesy are at the core.

Mrs A Cook - Co-opted Governor Appointed 17/05/2017 - 16/05/21

Ms S Jones - Appointed 24/01/2018 - 23/01/2022

I am a co-opted governor (started in 2018). I have two children (my eldest son is in his last year at the Junior School and my youngest son is in Reception at the Infant School). I have lived in Stretford for 18 years and love being part of this community.

I have worked for 20 years in the public and voluntary sectors - from the Welsh Assembly to the NHS and charity organisations to Local Government - in a wide range of roles. All of my jobs have a common theme of improving services for local people. I currently work for the newly formed Manchester Health and Care Commissioning organisation and I’m working on the Prevention Programme, which aims to improve health outcomes for Manchester residents.

I was a founding trustee of Mummy’s Star, a National charity set up to support women and their families when a mum is diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy or within the first two years after a baby is born. I am currently an advisor to the Mummy’s Star board.

I am delighted to become a governor at Victoria Park Infant School and to play a part in helping the school deliver the best start for local children.

Mr K Kalina - Appointed 17/05/2017 - 16/05/2021

I have been a co-opted governor at the school since May 2017; I also have a son currently in reception class of the school (and a pre-schooler who cannot wait to start in a few years!)

I work full time for AWH Legal ltd as a Solicitor dealing with litigation.

Born by the seaside in Blackpool, I moved to Manchester 10 years ago with my wife for work as we both got jobs in Manchester city centre. When we started a family we moved to Stretford and specifically the Victoria Park area as we saw it as a brilliant location to live and bring up our family.

Although I have only lived in the area for the last 2 years, I feel a great affinity for Stretford and wanted to get involved formally in the local community. I see being a Governor as a way for me to offer my skills as a Solicitor (and father) and try and ensure our local school and kids get the best start they can.

Mr A Patel - Parent Governor - Appointed 20/11/2017 - 19/11/2021

Mrs C Turner - Appointed 05/06/2014 - 04/06/2018

I have been a governor at Victoria Park Infant School since June 2014 and I am a Local Authority appointment. I am also a governor for Central Manchester Hospitals Foundation Trust and a Trustee of Age (UK) Trafford.

I qualified as a nurse in 1976 and have had a varied career including working in the area as a Practice Nurse for a local G.P.

I have two grown up children and four school age grandchildren, so I have a great interest in education. I hope as a governor at Victoria Park Infant School I can help to ensure that the high standard offered continues into the future.

Miss D Vrlec - Headteacher - Appointed 22/02/2006

Mrs L Walkden - Deputy Head & Staff Representative - Appointed 27/01/2015 - 26/01/2019

Hello! My name is Lisa Walkden and I am the Staff Representative on the Governing Body, as the Deputy Head of the school. I have worked at Victoria Park for many years and am extremely proud of the school and our children. As well as being a part time teacher in Year 2, I am lucky enough to work alongside teachers throughout the school and join in with lots of the amazing learning opportunituies that happen here. I enjoy working with the Governing Body to share and celebrate our schools' achievements and find ways to make our amazing school even better!
