A little experiment

Make ice

Find an ice cube tray and fill it with cold water

Place the ice cube tray in your freezer

Wait until the water freezes and becomes ice.

Take the ice cube tray out of the freezer and watch closely as the ice melts slowly away.

Try putting some of the ice cubes in a warm place and some in a colder place - perhaps some ice cubes could be placed outside.

Let me know what happens to your ice!

If it is icy, frosty or snowy outside you can do experiments in the same way with pieces of ice and snow

Mathematics

Count ice cubes

Count ice cube spaces in your ice cube tray

How many ice cubes all together, how many left if we take 1or 2 away?

Experiment with ice and snow

The Cross Rabbit read by Miss Myles

In this wintry story, an old rabbit is cross when a group of mice disturb him with their games. Percy persuades the mice to play elsewhere, but the peace does not last for long. Will the poor old rabbit ever get any sleep?

Nick Butterworth is one of the most successful author/illustrators today. His humour and his beautiful illustrations have made him a household name, particularly for his well-loved Percy the Park Keeper series.
