Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week beginning 19th April

It has been another great week in 1C. The children are really enjoying  our space topic. They have been learning about Neil Armstrong and the first lunar landing. They also found out about the astronaut Tim Peake and his time spent aboard the International Space Station. There was some fantastic writing, using sequencing words.

When it was Earth Day on Thursday the children talked about the importance of taking care of our planet. They began to think about the need to reduce, reuse and recycle and made posters.

As it was St George’s day on Friday, we talked about knights and the children designed their own coat of arms for a shield. They were very proud of the results.

Playtimes have been so enjoyable in the gorgeous sunshine .We had the basketballs out .They are great for practising bouncing skills and also as something to sit on while eating apples and chatting with friends !

We hope the children are trying hard to learn their spellings. ( The list is in their reading record book) . There will be a little test in a few weeks, so  it would be great if you could help them practise .Also, with reading it is really beneficial to do some reading as often as possible ( We know some evenings this is not possible or the children may be tired ) However, frequent practice  really does help them make progress. If you could write in the record which page they have read up to or if they have finished the book that is helpful.👍

Finally, you should have received an email today about parents’ evening. If there are any issues please do not hesitate to contact us.

Have a lovely, sunny weekend  🌞  and we look another fun week in 1C 😊
