Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week 5

Hello reception 1 families!

This week we have been finding out about children around the world. We have shared a lovely book called Children of The World - Barefoot book by Tessa Stick.

Thank you for letting us know which countries you and your families are from. We have talked about these and next week we will be looking at what the flags for those countries look like.

The children have enjoyed finding out about different languages spoken, different clothing, toys and traditions. They have enjoyed a finger painting activity which shows the children around the world.

Our Think Equal story this week was called The Weather Inside Me. This helped the children to understand their feelings and how these feelings can be like the weather. We learnt that feelings come and go just like the weather does.

In maths we have focussed on matching 6, 7, 8, making pairs and combining 2 groups. In phonics we have learnt zz and qu. Please can your child complete their phonics homework sheet and practise their reading and helpful words. Remember to comment in their yellow reading record book.

Gymnastics and musical theatre have been fab this week. It is great to see the children are remembering the songs, dances and routines each week and really enjoying themselves!

Our medal winner this week is Eisa Moncrieffe! Eisa is is a happy little boy who enjoys coming to school and always tries his best. He is a good listener who joins in with class discussions and is a lovely, caring friend.

Next week is the last week of Spring 1 half term! The time is flying by!

I hope you enjoy looking through the photos and and have a super weekend.

Take care and I look forward to seeing you all on Monday.
