Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week 4 week beginning 16th May

We have had a busy week in Reception 1 and have made the most of the sunny weather.

In our topic work we have continued to look at plants and what parts of a plant you can eat. The children did a great job of identifying the different parts that we can eat.

In maths we focused on first, then and now which secures the children's knowledge of adding more. This was linked to the story Mr Gumpy's Outing. I am sure your child can tell you about the story.

In phonics we introduced the sounds 'oo' as in spoon and 'ar' as in arm. Please encourage your child to keep looking at the digraphs we have already covered to help them recognise them in their reading and be able to use them in spelling.

Sam and Steve were impressed with the children's determination in football this week and Mr Shingler introduced the javelin. This involved concentration and great listening.

The children have had lots of fun this week playing, being creative and enjoying many outdoor activities.

Well done to Danyal who is our medal winner this week - well done!

EXCITING NEWS - We are going to the zoo!! If you have not received the letter sent out by email I will attached a copy.

Next week we will be enjoying lots of jubilee fun and activities.

Please remember to send your child to school with a bottle of fresh water daily.

It is class photographs on Friday 27th May.

Thank you for your continued support and I hope you all have a lovely weekend. Enjoy the photos.

Take care

Mrs Spooner x
