Summer 2

27/6/26

What an amazing time we had at the fun day last Monday here are the photos to show you. Thank you so much for the sponsors and money sent in so far. Please keep them coming!

We have had the hottest week in school so far and the children were amazing so sensible but we had to abandon all PE and have quieter activities.

19.6.26

This week the class met their new teacher Mrs Holmes when she visited the school on Tuesday morning. The class had lots of questions for her and she kindly took the time to answer them all! It was good for the class to meet their new teacher and certainly calmed a few nerves!

In literacy the class explored the The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch story  where we wrote character profiles and looked carefully at Mr Grinling the lighthouse keeper. We made sure to include lots of detail and description.

In Maths we continued recapping our skills and knowledge of arithmetic in problem solving formats.

In topic we looked at seaside past and present and explored how the beaches and entertainment have changed. The children enjoyed making their own Punch and Judy shows.

Please make sure you remember your sponsor forms, comfy clothes, water bottle and hat for the football fun day. It will be a big Fundraising Fun Day.

On Tuesday afternoon the whole of Year 2 will be visiting the Juniors for a picnic, this will be during the afternoon but we will be back for pick up at the Infants as normal.

12.6.26

The children have had a great week back in 2F and the start to the final half term of the year!

In topic we have started to look at seaside towns in the UK and whether features of the seaside were manmade or natural.

In Literacy we read the story of the Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch and described the characters and how they felt at different stages of the story.

Each child also had the chance to draw a World Cup team from a hat to cheer on!

Next week the class will be meeting their new teacher Mrs Holmes when she visits school on Tuesday morning. We spent some time thinking of questions we would like to ask her about what to expect in Year 3.

This will be one of a few transition events we will be having to get the children as prepared as possible for their move up to the Juniors.

PE days for this half term will be Tuesday and Wednesday
