Leaver's assembly Slideshow

Its been a very busy week in 2L! We have had sports day, a visit from Ms McGuiheen and lots of practice for our leaver's assembly in amongst our usual class work! We also tried our best to keep cool in various ways as the photographs show.
Next week is looking equally as busy, with our actual leaver's assembly on Tuesday morning, a visit to the Juniors to watch their summer play on Wednesday and our trip to Lytham St Ann's on Friday.
I have provided the children with spellings but their only 'homework' is to practice their songs for the assembly on Tuesday. I have attached links below. The spellings are: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December.

This week the class met their new teacher Mrs McGuiheen when she visited the school on Monday morning. The class had lots of questions for her and she kindly took the time to answer them all! It was good for the class to meet their new teacher and certainly calmed a few nerves! In literacy the class wrote a new chapter to The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch story and made sure to include lots of detail and description. In Maths we continued recapping our skills and knowledge of arithmetic. In topic we looked at seaside past and present and did some wonderful watercolour lighthouses in Art.
Next week we have a Fundraising Fun Day on Monday. The children should wear their PE kit or a football kit for the day. On Tuesday afternoon the whole of Year 2 will be visiting the Juniors for a picnic, this will be during the afternoon but we will be back for pick up at the Infants as normal.
Spellings for next week are: be, bee, quite, quiet, bare, bear, one, won, son, sun.
I have put a literacy and a maths activity on purple mash too.

The children have had a great week back in 2L and the start to the final half term of the year! In topic we looked at seaside towns in the UK and whether features of the seaside were manmade or natural. In Literacy we read the story of the Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch and described the characters and how they felt at different stages of the story.
Each child also had the chance to draw a World Cup team from a hat to cheer on!
Next week the class will be meeting their new teacher Mrs McGuiheen when she visits school on Monday morning. We spent some time thinking of questions we would like to ask her about what to expect in Year 3.
This will be one of a few transition events we will be having to get the children as prepared as possible for their move up to the Juniors.
PE days for this half term will be Tuesday and Friday
