Hello R2 Families

Gosh, these weeks are whizzing by aren't they?! The children are settling well and everyone is really getting to know one another. We have had some wonderful imaginative and collaborative play, which is so lovely to see. 

This week we have begun our Floppy's Phonics scheme and have learnt 's' and 'a'. After whole class phonics teaching, the children do consolidation learning in groups, in their Floppy's Phonics workbook. That same work is then sent home on Friday's as their home learning for the week. Please have a read of the note attached to find out how you can support your child with this learning and how  home learning routines work in R2. Thank you so much in advance for support with home learning, it really makes a huge difference to your child's progress. 

A definite highlight for me this week has been sharing the children's family photos with them. They have spoken enthusiastically, lovingly and confidently about how special their families are to them. Each child has drawn a fab picture of their family and these are to go proudly on display in the classroom. 

We have loved sharing the children's Chatterbags with them. We are working their way through them at intervals through each day and when the children have shared them they bring them home that day.

I am looking forward to seeing you all at the Meet the Teacher this Thursday, 24th September, 3.30. This will be a valuable opportunity for you to find out about things like our reading routines, our phonics scheme, early maths and class routines. Thank you for emailing me about your attendance.
