Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Volunteering

Volunteering opportunities in school are currently on hold. We will keep you informed. Thank you.

Library Volunteers

We have been working with parents, friends and governors to renew and update our library stock. We are very proud of our library and even more proud that we have a lovely team of parent volunteers who take small groups of children to the library each week. If you are able to give us an afternoon each week, we will provide you with lots of enthusiastic children and some beautiful books! Please get in touch if this is something you would be interested in supporting as these sessions depend entirely on volunteers.

Family Learning Fridays

We send out a letter at the start of each school year requesting volunteers for Family Learning Fridays. Volunteers are asked to sign up for 6 Friday mornings throughout the year (one each half term), and deliver fun activities for all the children in Reception, Year & Year 2 classes.

Volunteers can include parents/carers/grandparents and all will need to have a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check as part of our safeguarding policy in school.

We have successfully delivered these Family Learning Friday sessions for a number of years and activities can include baking, weaving, craft and junk modelling.

It's lots of fun for everyone involved so if you're interested and can make a commitment to 6 mornings, please sign up at the start of the school year!

Reading Buddies

We invite parents/carers to volunteer on a weekly basis to support children in Key Stage 1 with their reading skills and confidence. Volunteers are allocated a small group of children who they will see each week helping to build a trusting relationship which is so important to encourage those reading skills. It's a great opportunity for parents who have the time to get to know our school, get to know the children and make a real difference.
