Week 2

Hello R1 families.

Your children have had a super week! They have settled in to the full day, routine of school really well.

This week we have focussed on being kind - having kind hands and using kind words; listening to each other and the grown ups and exploring and enjoying the areas in our classroom. Miss Edwards and I are enjoying seeing new friendships growing and lots of imagination and creativity happening in our class!

On Tuesday we had our first gymnastics session with the coaches and the children were great! I think we may have some budding gymnasts!

In continuous provision the children enjoyed listening to the story of The Colour Monster and designed their own colour monster, drawing patterns, beginning to paint a self portrait, outdoor play, junk modelling, reading books, building models, sharing our Chatterbags and enjoying milk and snack.

Lunch time has been a success. The children have done really well eating their lunch and enjoying playtime with the rest of the school in the main playground.

I have sent home reading books on Friday in your child's reading folder. Please ensure that everything is kept inside the reading folder to protect the books and keep them dry.

When you have shared the book with your child, please could you date and write a comment in the yellow reading record book. Reading folders need to be kept in the green book bags daily as books can be checked on any day.

Meet the Teacher Meeting will be on Thursday 24th September at 3:30 in R1's classroom.

This will be a short meeting where I will explain the school day to you and some information about how we teach phonics/reading etc. The meeting is for adults only as the space is limited. Please can you email me to let me know if you will be attending.
