Hello R1 families!
What a lovely week we have had. The children are full of energy and bursting with ideas and imagination.
In phonics we have introduced 'm' and 'd' and the children have been trying very hard with our handwriting. They have been forming 'i' and 'l' from the Long Ladder Letter family, using different mediums.
In maths the children have had fun exploring measures. They have enjoyed maths related stories and taken part in practical activities comparing big and small, heavy and light, (even being human weighing scales) and comparing capacity.
Continuing with our topic, the children have been sequencing their photos into baby, toddler and child. It was lovely to hear them talk about what they did as babies and what they can do now they are "bigger". The children thoroughly enjoyed looking at the photos that you sent in. Thank you again for sharing them with me!
In our circle time we have been talking about our emotions and what these might feel like and also about having kind, gentle hands.
In Drawing Club the children really enjoyed the story Hairy Toe by Daniel Postgate. You might like to enjoy sharing the story by listening to it on the link below.
The children are excited to see our Time for Talk picture each day and it generates lots of language and discussion. Also our word of the week. Please remember to ask your child about these at home as I am sure they will be eager to talk to you about them.
Reminder
The weather is becoming quite changeable, can I please ask that your child comes to school with a coat daily.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
Take care
