It has been a lovely last week of the half term in 2L. The class produced some excellent writing - firstly writing instructions for others to follow and then writing about books they have enjoyed. In Maths we revisited some of our previous learning to make sure that remembered the concepts previously covered. In Topic we wrote our own short fairystories and made a short puppet show. We also turned these stories into a scratch project.
In PE with Mr Shingler we practiced our jumping and triple jump skills and completed our gymnastic equipment lessons with some super balancing.
We were asked to take part in a project at Stretford public hall called 'A million acts of hope'. The children were invited to write about something they were grateful for and something they were hopeful for. They decorated their work and it was added to a larger exhibition in the public hall. I have attached images below. The staff at the public hall were very impressed with the work we submitted!!
I have not given the class any homework or spelling over the holiday but please feel free to access purple mash and other online resources I have posted on the class page.
I hope you have a lovely half term break.
Thanks,
Mr Logan

Another week has flown by in 2L. Thanks to the parents who attend the parent's evening meetings - it was good to be able to give you an idea of how well the children are doing this year. This week we looked at editing writing and making sure we use different conjunctions (joining words) in our writing. In Maths we focused on telling the time to 5 minute intervals and putting our daily events in order, what time we wake up, eat breakfacst, go to school, have lunch etc.
We developed our coding skills by working on scratch on the kindles and also spent time collaging a shield with a family crest on it.
In PE we continued our work on the gymnastics equipment but this week tried to put a sequence of movements together as we climbed.
The spellings for next week are station, fiction, motion, national, section, addition, subtraction, potion, option, introduction.
I have also put 2 tasks on purple mash for homework.
Thanks

We.ve had a great week of learning in 2L this week. In literacy we continued work on the Paper Bag Princess, trying to rewrite the story with lots of detail. In Maths we looked at how to find fractions of amounts and then moved on to looking at time, particularly o'clock, half past and quarter past. I have added a link to a useful online teaching clock that we have used in class should you wish to do more practice at home! https://www.topmarks.co.uk/time/teaching-clock
In topic we looked at different jobs that people would do in castles and thought about which of those jobs we would be best at. In Science we looked at the differences and similarities between a bulbs and seeds
In PE we used the gymnastic equipment and practiced balancing.
I have given out homework sheet again this week and would like them returned on Monday please. Spellings for next week are: badly hopeless penniless happily lovely joyless slowly quickly careless fearless. In Year 2 children should be starting to put words that end with -ful, -less, -ness and -ment into their writing so if possible try to encourage your child to use these words in a sentence when practicing them.
Have a lovely bank holiday weekend!
Thanks
Mr Logan

We have had a good start to this half term in 2L. We started literacy by reading the story of 'The Paper Bag Princess' and used the story to write some descriptive and detailed sentences. In Maths we looked at unit and non unit fractions (1/2, 1/4, 1/3, 2/3, 3/4 etc). Our new topic is Castles and we spent some time looking at the different parts of castles and their names. We also looked at coats of arms and heraldry, designing our own family coat of arms.
I have given out spellings and homework this week. I would like the homework to be returned by Monday. I have said that if children have not been able to finish their homework I will give them opportunity to do so on Monday at breaktime.
PE this half term will be on Monday and Friday with girl's football club still running on Thursday lunchtime for those who wish to attend.
Please keep an eye out for the parent's evening booking form that will be available on line next week. Next week's spellings are:
enjoyment sadness careful playful plainness argument merriment happiness plentiful cheerful
I hope you have a lovely weekend,
Thanks,
Mr Logan
