Happy Easter

This week as expected has been an exciting one. The trip was amazing and I hope you enjoyed the photographs and the video of the tunnel under the section “trips.”

Today we enjoyed scooter fit and the children amazed us with their scooting skills. Here are a couple of short videos that you will enjoy. There are also some photographs listed under the trip section of our class page,

The children have had a long half term and they have worked so hard.
I’ve sent home some activities for the holidays that the children can dip in and out of. Please do as much or as little as is right for your child. There should be a note in your child’s reading book a couple of comprehensions and some mixed maths questions.

Next half term we look forward to topics based around the seaside and castles.

I hope you have a lovely holidays and once again well done to all the children. You thoroughly deserved your scoot fit treat today a reward for all your hard work and fantastic attitudes!

What an exciting week to look forward to next week. On Monday we have an exciting trip where we will learn about equality, teamwork and about Manchester and what’s great about it! We will be writing a recount on Tuesday and it’s always great to have first hand experiences to write about.
We enjoyed watching a video about trip rules and wrote our own set of instructions for our trip.

In maths we have concentrated on missing numbers in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division operations. There are a couple of maths sheets to support this work for homework.

In science we have continued to look at habitats and this week we had fun looking around the playground and car park at the plants and animals. We wrote our own data collection sheets.

Week ending 18/3

We have put a sats information segment on the website under

children. It will be helpful to take a look at the papers and the range of questions asked.

We will be talking about each individual child’s targets on parents evening and sharing the National standards for English and Maths at the end of Key Stage 1.

This week we have been exploring data handling in maths  and have been learning new sorting diagrams the Carroll diagram and venn diagram.
We have also been rehearsing our calculation skills and are working 1-1 with the children to support any errors or misconceptions.

In cross curricular English we have been looking at the new topic of M32 and especially the history of the high street. The children were introduced to LS Lowry and we listened to matchstalk men and matchstick cats and dogs. The children thought it was great fun,

Next week we will be starting some Lowry pictures acknowledging a local artist,

Here are some pictures of our week.

Week 3.

This week we have completed some lovely portrait art work and these have been displayed in our classroom.
We have been looking at poems this week and rhyming words and especially poems with humour.
In maths we have turned our hand to measures in kg, g, l and ml. We have also looked at directions of left and right and north south east and west and continued to tell the time in quarter to and from Times.
We have enjoyed starting the history of M32 and looked at books and videos of schools in the local area. A real eye opener for the children.
In music we have explored more of jack and the beanstalk and looked at pitch of notes. We also had a little sing song around the piano singing the days of the week song!

Week 2

World book day fun!

Welcome back to school 2F!
what a lovely week we have had starting our new topic of animals and plants in the desert regions and M32 our local area.

To tie in with our topic Mr Shingler is delivering a series of dance lessons based around the lion king and the circle of life.

We have had great fun choosing our animal to act out and replicate the animal movements.

We have been continuing with larger fractions in maths and revising revision. The children are completing lots of mixed maths type questions so that they can recognise the signs easily. We will be talking to the parents about the upcoming SATS but reassured they are well prepared and loving all the amazing topics we are working on in school.
In English we will be covering the book Meerkat Mail and will be letter writing, postcard writing, story writing and poems. We will be very much focussing on sentence structure, handwriting and spellings.
The children have settled well back into

school. I’ve videoed some of the lion

king so you can enjoy a sneak preview!
