Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week 5

Busy, busy, busy is how to describe reception 1 this week!

In our topic we have been looking carefully at our homes and many different types of homes. We talked about the different rooms in our homes and what we have in each room.

Our dance and gymnastics coaches have been impressed with children's listening skills and how they are progressing week on week.

The children have now learnt the sounds s, a, t, p, i and n in phonics and we are beginning to segment words and blend the sounds together to read words. Thank you for supporting your children at home with learning their sounds and completing their homework.

The children have enjoyed ordering objects by size and comparing mass in maths this week. They had fun being human balance scales and using balance scale to understand heavy and light (pictures in the slideshow).

Have a watch of the YouTube clip below and have a go at making balance scales at home. If you make these with your child, please could you email a picture to me so we can share in class.

On Friday we were very lucky to have a session with Alice from Stretford Children's Theatre based on story and imagination. The children thoroughly enjoyed it!

This week's medal winner is Robin M. Keep up the super work Robin.

On Tuesday it is individual photograph day. As it is our PE day, please send your child to school wearing their yellow t-shirt and green cardigan/jumper with their PE bottoms.

Please can your child wear a coat each day suitable for the wind and the rain. We try to get outside as much as we can.

Enjoy looking through the slideshow.

I hope you all have a supper weekend!

Take care

Mrs Spooner
