Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week 5 week beginning 11th July

Hello everybody,

we have all had a lovely busy week in Reception 1. We have explored under the sea this week looking at marine life. The children have been very interested in this. They produced a lovely jellyfish craft and we enjoyed sharing the story of The Rainbow Fish. To follow this the children made some colourful rainbow fish.

In phonics we have learnt the digraph er as in herb.

We have had a planting success! Have a look at the photos of the sunflower and meadow seed bombs we planted.

Thomas is our medal winner this week. He has made super progress and is a kind, caring friend who enjoys taking part in all we do and sharing his ideas with us. Well done Thomas!

Thank you to all who were able to come and watch our class assembly on Thursday. Your children were absolutely fantastic and confident. They amazed me by remembering the poem Animal Chatter word for word. Miss Edwards and I are beyond proud of all of them.

Next week the children will meet the new year 1 teacher and then we have our trip to Blackpoool Zoo on Tuesday. Please read the attached letters about guidance in the heat and Mrs Walkden's letter regarding the heat and our trip.

Please read the above hot trip letter from Mrs Walkden and pass this on to any grown ups who you know may not access this webpage.

Please apply sun cream to your child before they arrive at school. We are not able to do this for them. Please do not send sun cream into school as this will not be needed.

Please do not send your child to school with lunch boxes or pots or reusable water bottles. Please send everything they will eat or drink in DISPOSABLE containers. We will not be able to carry everything around throughout the drip. Therefore what is not eaten will be disposed of. Please put your child's name on the disposable bag containing their lunch and drink. We will store the lunches in a cool place until we are ready to eat our lunch. Your child will need to bring a drink to have with their lunch.

We will be bringing and providing the necessary amount of water that we think they will need. This will be transported by myself and Miss Edwards. We will make regular water stops to ensure the children are well hydrated throughout the visit.

Please make sure your child is wearing socks and sensible shoes for the trip - no new shoes that may rub their feet.

Your child MUST be wearing a sun hat on the day.

****** Please arrive at school at the earlier time of 8:45 on Tuesday. this will enable us to get on the road as soon as possible ******

We will do everything required in order to keep your children safe and happy and to give them a day they will thoroughly enjoy!!

Have a lovely weekend and stay cool.

Take care

Mrs Spooner x
