Week beginning 8th June 2020

This week I would like you all to share, chat about and enjoy this story...

Please don't feel that you have to go out and buy it (although I fully endorse it as one for the collection heart) You will find a link below to a YouTube video of the story...

The Colour Monster - Read by Sherry

The Colour Monster - by Anna Llenas. Read by Sherry.

Whilst sharing the story ask your child:

  • How does the colour monster feel?
  • How do you know?
  • Have you ever felt this way?
  • What happened?
  • Do your feelings sometimes feel like colours?
  • What can we do to help when those feelings appear within us?

Below are some feelings monsters that you can print out and colour in to express how the monsters are feeling. If you like, you can use what ever colour you like to describe how it is feeling. You will also find some speech bubbles. Imagine that the monster is saying how they feel and why they feel that way, write this in the speech bubble, cut it out and stick it beside the monster. Think of as many different feelings as you possibly can! What different feelings have you had? Maybe you could start with writing a list of feelings. This will help you to recall some...

Over the coming week, have a go at writing your very own 'Feelings Diary'. A diary is something that we write in each day to talk about what has happened to us that day. Could you draw a picture to illustrate how you felt that day? Could you write a sentence to describe your feelings? Can you remember what a sentence needs?
