Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week 1

Reception 1 children have had a great start to Autumn term 2 this week.

The week started with some Halloween fun. The children listened to the story Pumpkin Soup by Helen Cooper, they were able to recall what the animal characters in the story did, made paper chains and had fun with Halloween props.

We had a visit from one of the school nursing team on Wednesday to talk to the children about the importance of hand washing. They enjoyed watching a short video and learning a song.

October has been Black History month and in class we listened to a lovely story called Give Me My Yam by Jan Blake. The children then had a close look at some Caribbean vegetables. They made observational drawings of the vegetables, then peeled and helped chop the vegetables ready for Miss Edwards to make Caribbean vegetable soup. The children all got to taste the soup. It was a big hit!

As usual the children were fantastic in their gymnastics and dance sessions.

It certainly has been a week of treats. On Friday we talked about Bonfire and firework safety. Some children made their own safety posters and we had lots of fun creating firework pictures. Mrs Peters made some parkin for the children to try and we then finished off the week by making chocolate apple slices decorated with sprinkles. It has been a fun week.

Our medal winner this week is Dexter. Well done!!!

Please enjoy looking at the photos below.
