Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week 5 week beginning 23rd May

What a busy week we have had finding out about the Queen, London and it's landmarks and celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

On Tuesday we celebrated with our very own street party in the playground.  We were lucky to have a sunny afternoon and enjoyed some crisp, biscuits and even some ice cream! It was a lovely afternoon with the whole school celebrating together followed by music and dancing in the playground.

The children have enjoyed taking part in many different activities this week. They have created their own crown and Union Jack flag, wrist bands, bunting, street party collage pictures, designed a tea set and have written a mini book about London and a postcard to the Queen.

This week we had a mini Olympics in PE with Mr Shingler, we have worked on subtraction in maths and revisited the sounds covered so far in our phonics.

Our medal winner this week is Sebastian. Well done for being such a hard worker and coming into school wearing a smile everyday!

We have been very lucky to have our own caterpillars in Reception. They have been busy eating away getting ready to wrap themselves in a cocoon. Hopefully when we return to school after the holidays we will be able to watch and wait for the butterflies to emerge from the cocoon.

Please can your child complete the phonics sheet in their reading folder and Miss Edwards and I are looking forward to seeing the bus adventure book that your child completes and seeing what adventures their bus goes on.

I hope you all have a restful break and enjoy lots of family time.

Please look through the photos below.

Take care
