Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week 2

Hello everybody!

What a wet and busy week it has been! This week we have continued to read our topic book Here We Are, finding out about land sea and air. The children had a real good look at the illustrations in the book and discussed the differences. They have been busy sorting which animals live on land in the sea or in the air and also which vehicles travel in or on the sea, on land and in the air.

We have had lots of fun creating a new roleplay area in class. This is a space station based on the children's enjoyment of finding out about space. They have had a big part in creating this. Pictures to follow next week when it is open.

In phonics we have focussed on v and w and the children have the w sheet to complete for their homework.

In maths we have been looking at the composition of number to 5, the composition of 3 groups and adding and finding out how many there are.

Myself and the PE coaches have noticed how much progress the children have made in their dance and gymnastics skills since last week. Keep it up children!!

The children have been practising their cutting and snipping skills with scissors, any practise they can get using scissors will be really helpful. They absolutely love cutting out but sometimes struggle to hold the scissors correctly.

Thank you to the families who continue to support their children by practising their sounds, words and reading and for writing in their yellow reading record book to let us know how they are getting on.

Our medal winner this week is Aria! She is working so hard to be much ore independent in what she is doing. Aria is a happy little girl who is a kind and helpful friend.

Next week we will be finding out about the Chinese New Year and investigating measures in maths.

Please enjoy looking at the photos in the slideshow.

I hope you all manage to have an enjoyable weekend during the very wet weather.

Take care

Mrs Spooner x
