Week beginning 23rd May

We have had a fantastic week celebrating The Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The children created their own fabulous crowns to wear at the celebrations, which included biscuits, ice cream and crisps-what a treat!

In maths we have been re-capping symmetry using mirrors to investigate lines of symmetry in shapes.

We have also been practising time, a very tricky concept, learning to tell the time to the nearest five minutes and recapping o'clock, half-past, quarter-to and quarter-past.

In English we have been writing about The Queen and events that have happened in her lifetime. The children have also been busy working as 'film critics'. We watched the amazing (in my opinion)animation titled Jubilee. The children were then asked to write down their opinions of this short film and if they would recommend it to others.

Jubilee

Enjoy watching this with your child!

In art we have explored collage, using the silhouette of The Queen's head to create colourful and unique pieces of art.

In P.E we had our own Olympic Games with Mr Shingler. The children were competing in running races and jumping hurdles!
