Developing reading and writing skills in the nursery
The children find and post their name card at the beginning of each session
Each child has a sign in book with their name card inside. They practise trying to write their name in their sign in book on a weekly basis.
Writing Area - children can choose to draw and make marks throughout the day
We have a velcro board with all the children's names attached to it. The children are encouraged to find and copy their name
Developing hand eye coordination - topic drawing and mark making.
This week the children's task was to draw a tall tree with branches and to use autumn colours to draw oval leaves.
Our Autumn Trees. Practise in drawing lines and simple shapes.
Developing emergent writing skills in role play. Making shopping lists in the fruit and vegetable shop
This week as a part of our Autumn Topic work we made jam sandwiches. We discussed harvesting of wheat for the bread and fruit for the jam and practised finer physical skills required for spreading butter and jam.
