Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week 4 Week Beginning 3rd May

Hello Everyone smiley

What a smashing week we've had in Reception 2! We've been learning about air transport this week and you just can't imagine how engaged and fascinated the children are when learning about the world around them. Our topic carpet times are always a hot bed of discussion, sharing knowledge, questioning, listening and making connections.

In maths we have continued with measure and have focused this week upon Capacity. We have explored the vocabulary that we use when measuring capacity, we have estimated how much would fit inside a container and we have done this will real apparatus and pictorially. The children love hands on practical maths!

We have shared stories and a lovely song about hot air balloons and the children just loved sharing a non-fiction text with Miss Hodgson about different kinds of aeroplanes.

We made hot air balloon baskets by weaving paper and the children were very determined to get the knack of the technique. We have made some beautiful eye catching balloons using collage materials.

In outdoor assembly on Friday we all danced our socks off! Henry was our medal winner this week and was chosen for his lovely manners, his chatty and friendly personality and for being a super hard tryer!

It was great to touch base with all of you mums and dads at our Parent's Evening meetings. I hope that you all went away feeling proud because you should be very proud of your little super stars!

Here are some pics of the children in action!

Enjoy your weekend!
