On Friday 8th May, it will be 75 years since the end of World War II, known as VE Day (Victory in Europe). This was a very happy day for most people and was celebrated by having a national holiday. Lots of people had parties in their streets, sang, danced and made bunting to be hung on the front of their houses.
This year as it is the 75th anniversary of VE Day, the government decided that we should all have a national holiday, just like people did 75 years ago. Lots of people were planning on having street parties to celebrate this day but now people are celebrating at home by making bunting, eating food that children would have eaten 75 years ago, and learning songs and dances. We have included lots of different ideas to join in with the celebrations at home with your families.
