Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week 4

Hi R2 Families!

This week we've been learning about how we get around the world using the most appropriate transport. Such a big, abstract concept for little people but they've loved getting their heads around why you can't just hop on the bus to China!

We have been knuckling down to some transport linked sentence writing-I was impressed with how well they are putting their phonics knowledge into practise. We've been practising using finger spaces between words, which can be tricky!

In maths we have been practising our subitising skills and representing numbers on a 10 frame.

We've explored different ways of making 6, 7 and 8 too.

In our think equal sessions we created a Class Agreement of the things that we need to do to make our class a happy place heart We'll record our agreement and use it to remember the things we need to do.

In Drawing Club we used an animation to explore a narrative. Wacky Races went down a treat and really hooked the children in to want to create their own characters and vehicles. The vocabulary they used was amazing and they were very excited to get their ideas down, add marks/writing and describe their ideas...

It is a real joy for me to share their ideas. Take a look!

On Friday afternoon we said goodbye to our class friend Taim who has moved to Germany. We enjoyed chocs from Taim's mum and we had fun learning how to make paper aeroplanes and flying them outside to see whose flew the furthest. Tommy's won!

What a lovely way to end a lovely week! Next week we'll learn about the similarities and differences between children around the world. We'll share this lovely book to look at the clothes, homes, food and lives of children around the world...

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
