Hello Reception 1 families!
What a fantastic week we have had! Well done to groups 5 and 6 who had their 1 hour visit on Monday. A huge well done and thank you to all the children, and to all the grown ups who have been dropping off and collecting the children - you have been great! You have helped Miss Edwards and I to get the children in and out of school without a fuss and helped this to be a smooth transition for the children.
This week we have been busy settling the children into school, helping to get them familiar with the routines and the logistics of a school day. They already know the routine for coming into school, finding their peg to hang their coat up, the correct basket to put their water bottle in and how to sit smartly on the carpet ready to listen and learn. The children have enjoyed exploring the different areas within the classroom and the outside area and making new friends whilst playing and having fun!
Lunch times have run smoothly and the children have a lovely lunch time assistant called Mrs Lavelle.

Next week we are going to by following the theme 'Getting to Know You'. Our aim is to find out how we are all similar in some ways but different in others. We would like the children to bring a photograph to school next week of them and their family so they can share these with the rest of the class. We will be encouraging the children to talk about who is in their family and encourage them to be proud of who they are. The coming week is going to be very busy for us and the children as we begin to discover who we are and what makes us unique and happy. Assessments will begin to be carried out to establish where learning needs to begin.
As part of this theme we are going to be sharing some lovely books by Todd Parr called It's Ok To Be Different and The Book of Families.
Finally, I would just like to remind you that as from Monday the children will be in school all day, 9:15-3:15.
I hope you have a lovely, fun packed weekend enjoying the sunshine!
Mrs Spooner
