Tuesday 2nd February

Hello everyone, happy Tuesday.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who sent in their stories yesterday, I enjoyed listening to them and this is just a quick reminder to check on Education City as new activities have been assigned for you to play this week. I hope you enjoy today’s learning.

English

Let's look again at the illustrations in the Journey story by Aaron Becker.

Journey video 2

As we have been learning about different ways of travelling, today we are going to look more closely at the travelling machine the girl sees. Imagine if you could take the girl’s place in the picture, what would you see, hear and touch. What material might the machine be made from? What noises will it be making as it moves? Write down your ideas making a list.

Today’s activity is to use your imagination and draw and write about your own travelling machine. You could either just add labels to your picture to show the different parts or you could write some sentences about what it looks like, how it moves and what sounds it makes.

Phonics

Let’s start our lesson with our warm-up to recognise our sounds and tricky words. If you already know all your sounds and tricky words, you can skip this bit.

Today we are learning about another way to pronounce a grapheme.

Lesson 42 - Year 1

Word of the day

Today’s word of the day is…

Maths

Today we are going to warm-up our brains by counting in 10’s. Why don’t you join in with this fun song?

Count by 10's Count by 10 | Count to 100 | Counting Songs | Jack Hartmann

Today’s maths lesson is about working with our numbers to 50 and finding out how we can show this using our objects (represent). There is an activity to go with the video. Please can you email me your work as I would love to see how you are getting on with recognising numbers to 50 😊

If you would like some extra practise why don’t you try this game.

Topic – Ready, Steady, Go!

I thought today we would keep with the machine theme and do some music based around Professor Brains Amazing machine.
