Our last day
Our last day in year 2 came and we had some good fun playing with our toys and games and playing bingo.
It’s always a very sad day saying goodbye to our delightful year 2 children but it’s always with such pride that we send another “awesome bunch” to the Juniors.
Miss Daley is waiting patiently for her new class and is so excited. The great news is that Mrs Khan is joining team 3D and so the children will have a familiar face during the initial days and beyond.
I have to say a very big thank you to all the parents and children. Mrs Khan, Mr Cartwright and myself were totally overwhelmed by the amazing gift voucher and gifts we received. It was such a lovely thing to do and a huge thank you to you all.
The children have experienced a very strange education prior to year 2 including two lock downs and it has been amazing to see all the progress of the children both academically and socially. You have the most amazing kind children who real empathy towards everyone. They are simply a credit to you all.
I can’t wait to call and see the children at the junior school and see how they are settling in.
I wish you all a lovely summer break and rest.
Thank you once again
Fiona Gill
Our summer trip to St Anne’s
Look at our Fabulous pictures from the trip.
There are lots of pictures from
the trip in the Trip section of our class page.
The children were amazing and so well behaved on the trip. We had a lovely day we started off on the playground which had so much to see and do and then had a ride on the mini train. After our ride we enjoyed an ice cream and then set off for the beach.
Most of the children enjoyed using the buckets and spades and the equipment. There were ribbon kites, cricket and a launch rocket. There were some amazing sandcastle designs. Oh I’m forgetting our picnic lunch on the blankets on the beach. A highlight of the day was eating lunch! I think the children were ready for lunch at 10!
congratulations 2F totally amazing behaviour and friendship once again!
Commonwealth games baton
Today we welcomed some year 5/6 runners from Barton Clough school. They brought a baton torch to us and then 10 year 2 children walked and slightly jogged to Gorse Hill. Here are the exciting photos and videos.
Week ending 1/7/2022
Another lovely week in school. The children have enjoyed learning about measures in more detail this week including g and kg, degrees c and liquid measures. We have been investigating scales of different sizes and solving problems.
In English we enjoyed looking at the princess knight story and retold the story in our own words.
We looked at the many jobs that people who worked in a castle in medieval times would do and some of the jobs met some groans from the children who really wouldn’t have liked to do some of the more messy jobs. They especially enjoyed the jester’s role.
We have continued to design our torches and hats ready to welcome some runners from Barton Clough on Tuesday morning. We will exchange batons and pass on the one we designed and made as a class to Gorse Hill who will continue the chain.
Please encourage your children to take a look at the Commonwealth games when it’s televised and to look at the wealth of sports we can participate in.
Friday 1st July
We are all looking forward to Sports Day next week. Below you will find some useful information from Mrs Walkden.
25th June

Summer 2
Welcome back to the last half term. This term we will be looking at the new topic of castles. 2F are going to do a mini project on Katie Morag's island. This is another busy term for year 2 with junior transition, an exciting trip, adults visiting day and an assembly.
Summer term 1
We completed this half term with a fabulous whole school picnic celebrating the Queen’s jubilee. Look at the amazing portraits we drawn to attach to our hats.
Welcome back after the holidays this is a short half term and we start our new topic of the Seaside. This is a busy half term where we will be timetabling SATS into our term. The children really won’t know they are doing the special jobs as we will be making them as fun and relaxed as can be.
