Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week beginning 22nd June 2020

This week's lessons are building on what you have already done last week about repeating addition (as part of our multiplication topic). Now, please watch the WRM video and then the Bitesize video before starting the activities.

*Parent/ carer note - The Bitesize video will introduce the 'x' symbol instead of doing repeated addition in sums. Children may also notice that multiplication sums can be done in any order and you will still get the same answer.

Now you have watched the videos we are going to start by making arrays practically. You could use LEGO bricks, sweets, pasta, shapes, egg boxes or even a baking tray! (Use the worksheet as a guide for what to do).

We are now going to use what we have learnt about multiplication and making arrays to answer some questions. You can count in 2's, 5's, or 10's, draw, or practically make arrays (like the photos above) to solve the questions.

And finally linked to our previous learning...

We thought you might like to play some games to practise using your multiplication skills.

And for those who would like an extra challenge, why don’t you try these...

*parent/ carer help – by the end of Year 1 children should know their 2, 5 and 10 times tables and be able to make connections between arrays and number patterns counting in 2's, 5's and 10's.
