Literacy
Hi everyone, I hope you have enjoyed the poetry so far this week. Today we are going to look at a nonsense poem. These are poems that are fun to read and that often don’t make any sense . They have some made up words and will often have rhymes.
Here is a famous nonsense poem by Spike Milligan.
Did you enjoy that ?
Here is the poem written out
For your task today can you fill in the missing words on the sheet below. If you don’t have a printer you can copy out the sentences. You could also practice performing the poem out loud and say it in a funny voice. Then I would like you to make a list of nonsense /real words that rhyme with nong ,ning and nang. This is to help you write your own poem tomorrow. Remember that the words do not have to be real words.Have fun
Please continue with your daily phonics practice.
Maths
Today’s lesson is going to go over yesterday’s work about turns as some children found it a bit tricky. You could practise with objects e.g. a car, doing a full turn, half turn and quarter turn. I’ve also included an activity to complete.
We are looking at hot air balloons today so I thought you would like to have a go a this addition game.It is a bit tricky because there are three numbers to add together.Try adding two numbers together first of all and then add on the last number. The balloons keep popping up so it gives you lots of time to work out your answer.
Topic
Continuing our topic on flight I thought we would have a closer look at hot air balloons today. Please watch the PowerPoints below and then see if you can answer some of the questions.
Here is a video with some more information on hot air balloons
Now that you have learned about hot air balloons why not have a go at drawing one. When you have done your drawing you could write a sentence or two underneath to show what do you have learned about hot air balloons. Then you could send me your pictures.
To end the day let’s relax and try some meditating. Imagine that you are floating in the air.
