Welcome back! We hope you all had a fantastic break. PLEASE NOTE THAT SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS TUESDAY 8TH OCTOBER 2024

Week 5

Hello Reception 2 Families

What a lovely end to the summer 1 term we have had! It's been a busy but fun week. We have learnt about Queen Elizabeth II and her up and coming Platinum Jubilee. We have learnt about our capital and some of London's landmarks. We have gone crafty crazy creating Jubilee party hats, spilt pin moveable Queen's Guards and making a Union Jack whilst finding out about what the flag represents.

We've been observing our caterpillars, which are now very big and fat! When we return from the holidays they will be at the cocoon stage of their life cycle and we'll watch them transform! We are also amazed by our sunflowers, which are getting very tall indeed!

We are continuing to learn new vowel digraphs in Floppy's Phonics, thanks everyone for supporting your child at home and keeping on top of the homework consolidation worksheets, this is a very valuable part of the amazing progress that the children are making. Whilst learning about subtraction, I've done a few assessments in maths this and last week and some of you will have some things to practise at home, including one to one counting correspondence, recalling and recording numbers 11-20 in the correct order and number formation. Thanks in advance for your support with this.

We had such a lovely time on Tuesday when the whole school celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The children were treated to a Jubilee picnic, they paraded their lovely handmade hats and Union Jack flags and we boogied the afternoon away together in a playground disco true VPIS style!

We have medal winner this week! Mohid was chosen because he has really grown in confidence and is a lovely role model within our class!

Next half term is going to be very busy. We will begin our new topic...
