Summer 1

Coronation party photos

Week ending 5-5-23

We are thoroughly enjoying our seaside topic but this week we completed a mini topic and explored the Coronation and our writing was based around Kings.

There are many different aspects to our writing this week but we are really focussing this week on correctly formed letters and checking our spellings for errors.

We have been exploring noun phrases and describing things in an interesting and more mature way. The homework this week is to put describing words into the sentences using the words given. This is to replace the usual spelling homework.

For maths homework I’ve sent a paper 2 reasoning maths paper and have also sent the oral questions that are read out twice so then children record the answer.

We are well into our SATS work and it’s important for your child to be in school on time. If they miss the input first thing then it’s hard for them to understand what is required for the lesson.

We will not be hearing the children individually read as much as usual over this period but we will be working on comprehension skills in class. Homework may look a little different over the next couple of weeks and will be focussed mainly upon on telling the time and units of measure in maths and using conjunctions to extend sentences. All valuable preparation for this half term.

Week ending 28/4/23

This has been an extraordinary sports week in school. Please click on the class pages football icon to explore the events and competitions this week.
It really has been a busy week and we are preparing the children for the SATS tests and assessments completed in May.
Please continue focussing on telling the time in quarter to and quarter past times and learning times tables.

Week ending 21/4/23

It’s been a lovely week back.  This week we started our new seaside topic and the children were very excited to hear that we are going on a beach trip at the start of next half term.

We started street dance this week and I’ve taken some mini clips of this weeks dances. Each week the children will have a turn to be a leader. I was very impressed.

Welcome back to school.
PE days will be Thursday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.

Our new topic will be looking after the environment moving onto the seaside topic. There are lots of lovely texts to explore based around the seaside and seashore. In Maths we will be focussing on all four operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and also on time, shape and space and data handling.
I thought it would be lovely to share our Easter egg hunt video with you so you will see how much fun we had in the last week. There are also a few photographs from work sessions.
