Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week 2

We have had another great week in R1!

This week we have found out about Diwali, the Festival of Lights which is celebrated buy Hindus and Sikhs. The children have listened to stories and watched short videos about how children and their families prepare for and celebrate Diwali. In class we have coloured and look at Rangoli and Mendi patterns, and made our own diva lamps. The children put so much care in to making them. We lit them all in class today and have sent them home for you to share.

As part of our maths the children enjoyed playing 'What Time Is It Mr Wolf?' outside. Mr Wolf had to reply with one more than 1, 2, or 3 which was our maths focus. You might enjoy playing this at home.

Today we have thought and talked about Remembrance Day. We watched a lovely, short CBeebies animation, which you can watch at home following the link below.

I think we have some budding artists in R1! They have produced some super pictures of poppies and created poppy wreaths.

Miss Edwards and I have been truly blown away this week!

Thank you to all of you who were able to come to parent's evening this week. It was lovely to chat with you and share your child's progress.

Well done to Saniya who is our medal winner this week!

Next Week

On Monday as part of national Anti-Bullying Week, the children can wear odd socks as part of their school uniform to represent their uniqueness and individuality.

On Wednesday is flu vaccination day for those who have completed the on-line form.

On Friday we are raising money for Children in Need, so the children can come to school wearing something spotty.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and enjoy looking through some of our photos from this week.

Take care

Mrs Spooner x
