week beginning 21st June
This week we have been looking at the different tourist attractions in London as part of our Geography work exploring the countries that make up the UK. We read ‘Katie in London’ and also spent some time finding out about Queen Elizabeth II. The children designed their own crowns and wrote some questions they would like to ask her if they met her!
In maths we have started our division work this week. Division can either be solved by ‘grouping’ or ‘sharing’. This week we have focused on ‘grouping’ and used our maths facts that we learnt in our multiplication work to help us. We have been dividing amounts into groups of 2, 5 and 10 to find out ‘how many groups’. We will continue with our division work next week learning how to share amounts to find the answer.
The children had their spelling test on Friday. Well done to those who got them all right or nearly all right. I will put the test in your child’s reading record book next week along with their new set of spellings.
