Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Friday 12th February

Good morning everybody! It's our last day before the half term holidays. Let's find out what we are learning today. smiley

English and Topic

Do you remember that some people are celebrating Chinese New Year today?

This year is the year of the ‘Ox’. Hmmm… I wonder what that means? Why don’t you listen to the story of The Great Race and find out!

The Great Race

So according to the story everyone has an animal for the year they were born in. I was born in the year of the rat. I wonder which animal year you were born in? Why don’t you ask your adult and find out what that means you are supposed to be like. The two links below can help.

Today we are going to be looking at how to write sentences using a conjunction. A conjunction can make a sentence longer and more interesting by adding some extra detail. As this is something new, why don't you see how you get on doing the activities and email me your work today.
Here are some extra colouring and writing activities.

Maths

Today’s maths is all about time and sequencing and ordering events. Can you look back over the story of the Great Race and put the animals in order of who won the race? Who was 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th?

There are also 12 months in a year and 7 days in a week and they follow a certain order. Do you know the order? Maybe these songs can help you remember?

Days of the Week Song

There are two activities on Education City to play today. The link below will ask you to log in first before taking you to the Year One Maths page. You need 'Sten of the month' and 'Sten's week'.
If you want to extra number practise you can order and sequence your numbers with this Chinese New Year themed game.

Word of the day

For the last few weeks, we have been practising reading and spelling a word of the day. Today I thought we could check and see how many words you can read and write from memory.

Keeping active

To finish our day we have got a dance to learn. Have fun!

Can't Stop The Feeling

Fun, free children's dance class.

I just wanted to say WELL DONE to all the children and grown-ups who have worked incredibly hard this half term. You all deserve a pat on the back and a well deserved rest. I hope you all enjoy the week's holiday.

Love
