This week we have been learning to tell the time, looking at o’clock and half past. Here is a good website for practising looking at where the long and short hands go.
We have been looking at the life cycle of sunflowers and noticing how they can grow so tall. Hopefully the seeds we have sent home this week will produce some good specimens!
We have also found out about Vincent Van Gogh and his love of sunflowers 🌻 Then we have begun to try different ways of creating our own sunflower paintings.
We will be looking at the four countries of the United Kingdom this term and we began by putting where we live into context. We thought about last term’s topic and planet earth in the solar system. Then we zoomed in to Europe, UK , England, Manchester and Stretford . Over the next few weeks we will be looking at Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland as well as England. If you have visited any of these places and have any souvenirs/ postcards or photos you are very welcome to send them in.
As we are encouraging the children to develop their story telling skills we have a new castle to play with. We are hoping it will lead to lots of imaginative tales of knights and dragons !
Enjoy the weekend and the sunshine 🌞
