Week 1 Week Beginning 7th June

Hello Reception 2 Families smiley

Well, we have had a really super lovely first week back! The sunshine helps  to put a spring in everyone's step but that said, the children have been eager as ever to get stuck in to some fabulous learning and playing together!

We've begun our new topic 'Once Upon a Time...'. We have discussed different types of stories such as Traditional Tales, Fairy Tales and Fables and will be delving into these genres through this half term. t

So we kicked off with The Three Little Pigs! OOh, that beastly Big Bad Wolf! The children wrote sorry letters to the pigs on behalf of the Wolf! We also made some lovely collages using straw, sticks and bricks to represent the Three Pig's houses.

In maths we have been learning about doubles and doubling numbers. The children have really impressed me with how quickly they have grasped this. yes

Miss Hodgson has been bringing out the scientists in the children whilst exploring the properties of lots of different material and arriving at their own vocabulary to describe how they felt and what they could do. yes

Next week is Healthy Eating Week 2021 so we have a Goldilocks/Healthy Eating theme mash up as we explore the story 'Eat Your Greens Goldilocks!' In maths we are exploring halving and sharing.

PLEASE CAN YOU SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL IN COMFY BOTTOMS AND TRAINERS ON WEDNESDAYS AND THURSDAYS. THE CHIDLREN HAVE AN EXTRA SPORTS SESSION ON THURSDAYS WHICH WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE END OF TERM, smiley

Here are some gorgeous piccies of the little people in action! Enjoy them and enjoy your weekends!
