We had lots of fun in our last week of the half-term. The children enjoyed the bouncy castles, making crispy cakes and Easter-themed activities.
In knowledge and Understanding of the World, we have been ordering the life-cycle of a frog. We have already noticed that some of our frogspawn have changed into tadpoles!
The children loved creating artwork with our lovely volunteer-Rosie. They created large-scale Easter eggs, using wax and brusho to create an amazing effect.
Week 4
We had another new arrival this week- Frogspawn! The children are watching with curiosity to see the changes that will happen over the coming weeks. We have been looking at non-fiction books to understand the life-cycle of a frog.
We enjoyed going to the park, where we saw lots of wriggly worms. The children knew lots of information from our text of the week - "Yucky Worms". I was so pleased with how well behaved the children were on our outing. I will be taking the morning children to the park on Wednesday.
In maths we have been using Numicon to help us understand number and match amounts to the correct numeral.
Outdoors, we have been busy practising our cutting skills by trimming flowers and cutting vegetables. We went on a worm hunt- but we had much more luck at the park than in the Nursery Garden!
We had a new enhancement on our light box this week-a spring garden. The children loved exploring this.
Week 3
What a busy week!
This week we have been excited to see the caterpillars arrive! We read the books Caterpillar Butterfly, by Vivien French and The Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle.
We enjoyed drawing spring flowers in our outdoor environment and 'gardening' in our mud kitchen area.
We created Mother's Day perfume in the water tray with a variety of flowers!
On Wednesday we had the very talented Marc Jackson visit Nursery to show the children how to draw a funny cartoon character.
On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day-the children looked great! In EYFS we also enjoyed a surprise at the end of the day when we swapped teachers!Mrs Cook came and read us a story.
We have been practising this song for a few weeks now- I hope you like it! Happy Mother's Day to all our lovely mums/grandmas/aunties x

Week 2
In Nursery we have been focusing on 2D shapes this week-creating Matisse inspired collages and exploring large shapes outdoors.
As mentioned in the newsletter,we are encouraging the children to become more independent and to help look after the environment.
We have loved sharing the book 'Matisse's Magical Trail', in which we see an explosion of colour in the illustrations. In the outdoor environment we have experienced the same!
We have also been consolidating our number recognition with some dot to dots!
Week 1
Welcome back! It was lovely to see all the children come into nursery smiling and happy to return-we've had a fantastic week.
We continue with our topic but our focus shifts to a theme linked to 'Down in the Garden', as we continue to explore the world around us.
In Maths we have been exploring 2D shapes in preparation for our new book Matisse's Magical Trail. We enjoyed the story of The Magical Crayon this week, which sparked a great circle time chat where children talked about what they would draw if they had a crayon that brought drawings to life.
In P.S.E this week we talked about keeping clean, and ways in which we can do this. The children had a go at hand washing some dirty baby clothes in the water tray.
On Friday we were busy preparing for snack time. The children enjoyed toasting and buttering hot cross buns. We also tried some yummy banana milkshake-the children enjoyed watching the ingredients get whizzed up in the smoothie maker.
