Hello R2 Families
We have had a lovely week. As part of our 'Let's go on an Adventure' topic, we have continued our adventures in the woods by sharing another great Bethan Woolvin picture story, her version of 'Hansel and Gretal. The children loved the fact that the witch was a good witch and that Hansel and Gretal were so terribly badly behaved! We explored lots of vocabulary and learnt about adjectives (describing words). We made character descriptions of the characters using some brilliant, pertinent language...
We have had a maths adventure this week too! Into addition and subtraction! We have added and subtracted practically, through telling little maths stories. The children made me very proud. At home, please practise adding and subtracting using fingers and objects in day to day life, to help reinforce concepts.
It has been lovely dodging the showers and getting out for opportune moments of warm sunny sun!
Next week we'll still be in the woods, sharing another traditional tale-Rapunzel (this one has a twist too!)
We'll talk about castles and the people that lived in them long ago.
We are working hard in phonics to secure new, more tricky phonemes. Next week we'll learn about the short oo (as in cook) and the long oo (as in spoon).
In maths we'll be recapping shapes, their properties and will use shapes for a purpose by creating tangrams.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
