Week beginning 8th June 2020

As part of our new topic we would like you to find out about the different animals that live on the African continent. There are lots of fiction and non-fiction books and resources that can help you.

The Ugly Five book by Julia Donaldson is a lovely story featuring lots of different animals. Why don’t you count and see how many you can find? Then choose an animal you might like to find more about and make your own animal fact book.

You might choose to draw and label pictures, or write sentences about what the animals look like, how they move, where they live, what they eat and include an interesting fact about them. You might also want to include some of your science learning from the last few weeks. Which animal group do they belong to? (Mammal, fish, bird, amphibian or reptile). Are they a herbivore, carnivore or omnivore?

The Ugly Five

Can you find out what the different parts of an animal’s body are used for?

You could be creative and turn into the animal! Make and wear a mask of your favourite animal and you could even make and wear a tail too!

Finally, we thought you might enjoy this guessing game.
