Hello Reception 1 families.
The children have come back to school this week full of excitement and happiness to see their friends and to start our new topic Once Upon a Time.
To start our topic, this week we have been discovering the story of The Three Little Pigs. Without fail, your children have joined in with our learning and have been eager to share their own ideas in whole class sessions and group discussions with their friends. We have thought about the different materials the pigs could have used to build their houses, some ideas were very imaginative, and the children have drawn these house designs. The children have followed instructions for how to cut out shapes to create a pig's face, created houses built from straw, sticks and bricks, built houses for toy pigs and the children watched a video to show them how to draw a pig and they have produced some fantastic drawings.
We have been very lucky this week to be able to enjoy playing in our outdoor area in the sunshine! The children have thoroughly enjoyed making some fantastic dens and seeing how far vehicles can travel.
Thank you grown ups for your continued support in helping your child to practise their sounds, words and reading. Regular practise helps your child to make progress.
We have also enjoyed wake and shake on Thursday and Friday mornings in the playground with Mrs Walkden and Mr Shingler. On Friday, we were lucky enough to be able to have our celebration assembly outside in the sunshine. Bobby was our medal winner this week. Well done Bobby!
Thank you to the parents who have emailed me regarding your preferred time slot for Parent's evening. If you have not already emailed me, please could I ask that you do so by the 22nd April.
Have a look at the slideshow for a snapshot of what we have done this week.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Miss Edwards and I are looking forward to another fantastic week. See you all on Monday.
