Help with phonics

Below are the five phases for phonics that the children learn in Reception and Year One to help them with their reading and writing.

 

Here is a checklist to see which phase your child is currently working at.

In the folders below, I have put resources for practising saying the phonemes (sounds) and recognising the graphemes (how they are written). There are also some tricky words that the children might come across in their reading books that cannot be segmented into sounds and need to be recognised as a sight word.
