Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week 7

Hello Reception 2 Families!

The Spring holidays have arrived! The children have had a very long and eventful half term and they are ready for a break! We have had a lovely but very busy week. The children have thrown themselves into some fun Easter crafts with gusto. I hope that you enjoyed your cute Easter cards!

This week was science week. The children worked in small groups with Mrs Hart and discovered how to make bubbles, some of which were enormous! We enjoyed our little trip to explore Victoria Park and the children made some thoughtful observations whilst deciding whether the things we saw were 'living' or 'not living'. The children have each planted a sunflower seed and are looking forward to seeing it sprout (hopefully!) They also worked in pairs to create a 'Handy Garden', a biodegradable glove that will act as a little green house to propagate different herb seeds.

Miss Myles took R2 for a visit to our school library on Wednesday to introduce them to the environment, talk them through how to select a book and behaviour expectations. The children will visit every Wednesday in the Summer Term and will begin to loan books of their choice. I will send further info about this after the hols.

We had an Easter Egg hunt, donning our handmade 'Wonky Easter Crowns'! Some of the children struck gold and won as many as three Easter Eggs in the Easter Raffle! Thanks for helping our PTFA to raise funds by buying raffle tickets. There was even more choccy treats when Mrs Walkden and Miss Vrlec surprised each class with a mystery Easter egg hunt too!

Just when you thought that we couldn't have possibly fitted any more fun into the week, we welcomed Scoot Fit to our school on Friday and the children loved scooting around together in the sunshine!

Our topic for Summer 1 is...

'What Things do we Know that Live and Grow?'

Enjoy the photos of the children having a really super week together. I hope that you have a great Easter/Spring break.  Miss Hodgson and I look forward to seeing you for a fresh, new Summer Term in a couple of weeks time!

Take care of yourselves

Mrs Cook xx
