Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week 2

Hello Reception 2 Families!

The children have had a pretty awesome first full week at VPIS! I am over the moon with how well they are all settling in, making friends, getting familiar with new routines and keeping very busy in their play and their learning.

We have begun self-portraits and talked about our lovely faces, face shapes and different skin shades...

We have been enjoying lots of outdoor fun in the sun!

We are set to become amazing readers and writers because our Floppy's Phonics sessions are underway!

You can access the Oxford Owl website for parents/students through this link

Our class login is: username: reception2vp  password: Mrs Cook

Please explore the resource and help your child to make the very best progress possible in their phonics, reading and writing. yes

We've playing happily and purposefully in continuous provision...

We really impressed Mr Shingler in PE!

I can safely say that we are going to have a fantastic Reception year! Next week is a short week but we will still pack in lots of great fun and learning. We will learn the 't' phoneme, begin to sort objects in maths and talk about one another's families. At home, please chat with your child about family members near and far. It would also be super if you could send in a photo of their immediate family to chat about and display upon their special spot on 'Our Wall of Wonderful Things!' I will also be getting the statutory Reception Baseline Assessment underway next week and expect to be carrying out over the next few weeks.

At the bottom of this page there is a link to our curriculum letter, which will give you an insight into what we will be learning throughout the coming term.

Please don't forget...

  • Label all uniform
  • Send your child with a fresh, labelled bottle of water every day. PLEASE DON'T SEND JUICE
  • Keep reading folders in book bags and ensure that you have purchased a green, school book bag
  • Share your child's reading book and work together on this week's 's' and 'a' Floppy's Phonics worksheets please

Have a lovely (longer) weekend with lots of fun and rest and Miss Hodgson and I cannot wait to see all of your bright smiling faces on Tuesday morning!
