The class have worked really well this week, applying themselves excellently to the challenge of their first set of sats papers. We have also had time to look at how seaside holidays have changed over the past century and taken a closer look at the seaside town of St Ives. The class were split into groups this afternoon and provided with a set of resources to try and design and make a model of the buildings in the 'Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch' story. Everyone worked well and produced some brilliant models.
I have not provided the class with homework or spellings during the sats tests period as they are working so hard in school time. I have however provided links to some useful resources to help with fractions, telling the time and some mental maths challenges.
Thanks,
Mr Logan

2L have worked hard during the shortened week we had this week. We have spent time looking at test paper style questions and thinking about the strategies we can use to answer reading and maths questions. We also worked hard on our writing this week as we wrote a letter imagining that we were Mr Grinling in the story of the Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch, complaining about the seagulls eating his food.
I have not sent spellings home this week, instead I have sent some extra Maths practice.
Enjoy the bank holiday!
Thanks
Mr Logan

This week in 2L we continued with practicing and preparing for our sats tests in May. We spent a lot of time looking at examples of word problems in Maths and how we could turn those into number questions. In Literacy we continued with the story of the Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch. In Art this week we learned about the work of Jean Michele Basquiat. We used music to inspire us and to help us make marks on our page using oil pastels. We then drew pictures of ourselves over the top of the colourful marks we made.
It has been a very busy and sporty week too. Lots of the children took part in either street dance and musical theatre performances, cross country running, football or multi skills . Please see the sporting events page on the website for photographs.
As we have been learning about contractions in class, this week's spellings are: can't wouldn't didn't shouldn't hasn't wasn't couldn't Mr it's Mrs
Thanks

It's been a great first week back in 2L. We have picked up where we left off with some excellent Maths and Literacy work and some great discussions about the features of the seaside and coasts of the United Kingdom. We also talked about looking after our planet and discussed the importance of Earth Day and why we should be taking more care of our planet. The class made some excellent sun catchers that we will have up in our window display. We started our Street Dance sessions with Kourtney and everyone was involved and really enjoyed the lesson.
The spellings for next week are station, motion, section, subtraction, option, fiction, national, addition, potion, introduction.
Thanks for your continued support and Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating!
