  • Use the Internet to find out about the famous animal that was first to orbit the Earth. Can you also find out who was the first man to go into space and to orbit the Earth?


  • Find out who were the first astronauts to walk on the moon, how long it took them to get there and what the different parts of the rockets were called. 

Watch the first astronauts walk on the moon. 

  • When the astronauts landed back on Earth from the Apollo 11 mission, they used parachutes to slow down their landing. Can you investigate what material would be the best to use to make a parachute?As the astronauts landed in water you might want to investigate what materials are waterproof first, before testing which would make a good parachute.
