Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week beginning 18th May 2020

This week in the area of Literacy we will continue our ‘materials topic by exploring a range of natural objects.  We will focus on fruit.

In the nursery we would have been making fruit salad.  Our literacy would have been based around the task of making the fruit salad.

Help Mummy or Daddy to make fruit salad.

Start by making a shopping list of the fruit that you will need for your fruit salad.

Read together - the recipe, ingredients and method for making your fruit salad.

Focus on initial letter sounds of the fruit for the fruit salad e.g. ‘a’ for apple.

This is the list of fruit that we use to make our fruit salad in the nursery:

Bananas, pears, apples, easy peel oranges, strawberries, halved grapes and orange juice.

Simply peel and chop all the fruit into a bowl of orange juice.

Encourage your child to do as much as they can in terms of peeling and chopping the fruit thereby developing finer physical skills.

Finally enjoy eating your fruit salad.

Look closely at and draw fruit.  Name your work at top left hand side of your paper.  Have a go at labelling your picture.

Praise all your child’s attempts to write.  Scribe underneath the marks they make so that they can see the correct letter formation.
