Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week 3 week beginning 7th March

Hello Reception 1 families!

What a lovely sunny week we have had. This week we have enjoyed another one of Bethan Woollvin's stories. We have looked at Hansel and Gretel. It has a slight twist compared to the original. See if your child can tell you about the story. We have used Boxed Clever to help the children retell the story using simple sentences. The children have worked hard to form their letters correctly and the correct size. They are also applying their phonic skills into their spelling.

In phonics this week we have worked on 'sh' as in 'ship' and 'th' as in 'thumb'. Thank you for supporting your children in completing the phonics sheets and practising their sounds, spellings and reading. Please do not forget to practise Helpful words 1 and 2.

In maths this week we have been building 9 and 10, comparing amounts and finding different ways to make 9 and 10. The children have also been practising their number formation this week.

PE has been a success this week and lots of fun. The children have amazed Miss Edwards and I this week with how smartly and sensibly they have been lining up in a morning and at the end of playtimes. You should be very proud of how they have all adapted to the changes.

I hope you have all read Mrs Walkden's letter that was emailed to you on Friday explaining the changes to the school day. All children will start school at 9:00 and Reception 1 and 2 will finish school at 3:05.

I hope you all enjoy a lovely weekend and enjoy having a look at the pictures below.

Take care

Mrs Spooner x
