Our very special day

Sports day

Welcome back!

Our new topic is CASTLES

PE days will remain the same.

Week ending 16/6/2023

It's been great to start our new topic about castles whilst also finishing off some seaside work from last half term. We will be continuing to gather reading and writing evidence for SATS assessments so please ensure your child is keeping up with daily reading at home. We will be replacing usual school reading turns with speed word assessments and assessments of reading unfamiliar texts so please know they will be reading at school just in a different way!

In maths we are checking the Year 2 objectives so will be assessing different aspects of class maths this week.

We are concentrating on shapes 2D and 3D and their properties.

In science the children will be starting bread making and changing materials with Mrs Hart. Each week some children will also attend healthy cookery club with our cook and this half term we are making flapjacks.

Week ending 23/6/2023

We have a had another busy week finalising the details for our school trip and the children have been writing their own sets of rules for the trip. They have been using bossy words to start off their lists.

In maths we have been working harder to master our subtractions and the homework this week reinforces this. We have worked hard on two methods the vertical with exchange and the  drawing of tens and ones where we have learned to cross out a ten and draw ten units or ones cubes.

Spellings have been centred around words that sound the same but are written in different ways.  Please help your child to learn these and continue to practice any from the Year 1/2 list that I sent home to secure before the juniors.

TRIP INFORMATION

Please make sure your child arrives at school promptly so we can set off on time!

If the children would like to wear their PE shorts and trainers this will probably be more comfortable but please wear the yellow polo shirt so we can easily spot "our children."

Please ensure sun tan cream is applied and your child has a hat and plenty of drinks. Fingers crossed for suitable weather!
